PCV Murcor employees and their families and friends, through its PCV|VRM Seeds of Hope community outreach program, joined thousands in walking to support the needs of the autism community. The Autism Speaks Walk, Orange County took place at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA on December 8, 2019, raising nearly $250,000.
“We greatly appreciate PCV Murcor coming out and participating in the walk,” said Tracey MacDonald, Executive Director of the Autism Speaks Southern California chapter. “Walk Day is our favorite day of the year. In addition to raising critical funds to fuel our mission of enhancing lives across the autism spectrum and throughout the lifespan, the celebration of those impacted by autism is truly a joy to experience.”
Autism Speaks Walk is the world’s largest fundraising event attended by family, friends, and support providers for the special people in their lives living with autism. It is estimated that autism affects 1 in 59 children in the U.S.
“It was heartwarming to see all of the support for autism come together in one place,” said Stephanie Klein, PCV Murcor’s Corporate Office Manager. “I have family affected by autism, so being a part of this with co-workers and getting involved was important to me.”
“We know that autism doesn’t just impact the individual, it impacts all those around them – families, friends, neighbors, and employers. Seeing the support of local companies helps all the families to know that they are not alone,” MacDonald added.
Autism Speaks funds research and education programs to improve the lives of anyone across the autism spectrum. The organization has funded nearly $150 million, primarily in scientific grants, resulting in an additional $396 million of publicly-sourced autism-related funding.
